Apple Announces October 13 Event for Smart Home Products
Apple is staking its next major hardware push on the living room. The company has scheduled a New York product showcase for October 13, organizing the presentation under the promotional slogan Welcome home
to anchor an expected expansion into the smart home product category. Apple has officially announced that it will organize this new event in New York on October 13 at 16:00 Romanian time. Although the company does not state exactly which products will be presented, the slogan fits perfectly with rumors discussing the company’s entry into the smart home market.
Apple Launches Smart Display and Updated Home Hardware
The launch event will introduce an intelligent display device operating as a home hub. Alongside this flagship display, Apple will unveil updated versions of the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. These will function together with the 6-inch smart display that the company will launch on October 13.
This hardware rollout follows the release of an improved version of the Siri assistant in September 2026. That software update accelerated the company’s smart home strategy after years of prototypes and delays. Apple had initially planned to release the home hub device in 2025.
Co-Branded Security Partnerships
Beyond its proprietary devices, Apple is expected to present a new line of smart home hardware developed in collaboration with LG. The partnership produced a series of connected accessories carrying the LG brand logo while integrating directly into the Apple ecosystem, and will also feature new smart home devices developed together with LG that came to light through sources a few days ago.

The co-branded lineup includes:
- A smart lock
- A video doorbell
- A thermostat
- Indoor and exterior security cameras
These accessories will support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread, and Matter protocols, with certain items utilizing UWB technology for proximity-based unlocking.
Bypassing Manufacturing Bottlenecks
The manufacturing arrangement with LG gives Apple an immediate footprint in the domestic automation market. At the same time, the partnership provides the company time to develop its own branded accessories in subsequent years.
This consumer hardware push marks a distinct entry for the American technology giant into a sector it has approached primarily through software standards in past years.
Unresolved Launch Logistics
Specifically, it remains unclear whether the LG-branded items will debut on October 13 alongside Apple’s own smart display or launch at a later date.
