Xiaomi, Redmi, adn Poco Confirm List of Devices Not Receiving Android 16 Update
A recent announcement from Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco has revealed a list of smartphones that will not receive the android 16 update. The decision aligns with the companies’ typical update policies, generally providing two major Android version upgrades for their devices.
Xiaomi Phones Excluded:
* Redmi Note 9 Pro
* Redmi Note 9 Pro Max
* Redmi Note 10 Lite
* Redmi Note 10 Pro 4G
* Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G
* Redmi Note 10S
* Redmi 10 2022
* Redmi 12C
* Redmi K40
* redmi K60
Redmi Phones Excluded:
* Redmi Note 12 Series: 12 4G, 12 NFC 4G, 12R, 12S, 12T Pro, 12 Turbo.
* Redmi Note 13 Series: 13 4G, 13 4G NFC, 13 5G, 13R Pro.
Notably, newer models like the Redmi Note 13, released in Indonesia in 2024, are included on the list.
Poco Phones Excluded:
* Poco C65
* Poco F5 5G
* Poco F5 Pro
* Poco M6 Pro
* Poco X6 Neo
Most of these excluded models were released between 2023 and 2024, reaching the end of their system support lifecycle.
Android 16 Features:
Android 16 introduces several key features, including enhanced security with “advanced protection” against malicious sites and apps, a modernized interface utilizing Material You and Material 3 expressive design, PC-like multitasking with desktop windowing, improved notification grouping and real-time updates, enhanced haptic feedback and adaptive refresh rates, improved support for hearing aids via LE Audio, network and payment security enhancements, and system improvements like direct contact saving and simplified SIM settings.
Despite not receiving the Android 16 update, affected Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco devices will continue to receive updates based on Android 15 through HyperOS 3, offering new features and performance improvements.
