Andrej Kostic Joins Kansas State, Bringing International Talent and NBA Draft Buzz

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

The Kansas State Wildcats are aiming for a resurgence in the upcoming season after failing to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for two consecutive years. The team finished the previous season with a 17-17 record, including a 9-11 standing in the Big 12 conference.

Head coach Jerome Tang is working with a significantly revamped roster, as only three scholarship players are returning: point guard David Castillo and forwards Mobi Ikegwuruka and Taj manning.

The incoming recruiting class is expected to make a substantial impact, led by Kostic. This deep group of newcomers also features MAC player of the Year Nate Johnson from Akron, Marcus Johnson from Bowling Green who averaged 16.2 points per game, and memphis transfer PJ Haggerty, a recognized second-team All-American.

Further bolstering the roster are Khamari McGriff from UNC Wilmington, Abdi Bashir from Omaha, international recruit Elias Rapieque, and 6-foot-11 JUCO center Stephen Osei, who is anticipated to redshirt his first year.

Kostic is projected to see immediate playing time in the competitive Big 12. His potential to adapt quickly to the pace and physicality of college basketball could position him as one of the league’s most influential freshmen and a player of interest for NBA scouts.
