Manchester United Goalkeeper André Onana Joins Trabzonspor on Loan
ISTANBUL – Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has completed a loan move to Turkish Süper Lig side trabzonspor for the 2025-2026 season, the club announced Thursday.
Trabzonspor confirmed the agreement was reached on a free loan basis. A one-year contract has been signed with Onana, guaranteeing him a salary of $3,510 million and a signature fee of $1,755 million for the season.
The move comes after Trabzonspor secured goalkeeper Sini Lamense from Royal Antwerp late in the summer transfer window. manchester United now has four goalkeepers on its roster, having signed Lamense for £18.2 million ($24.58 million).
onana, 29, has seen limited playing time this season, with Turkish international Altay Boinder starting all three of United’s Premier League matches. he featured in only one match and was at fault for a goal during a 2-2 draw against Grimsby Town in the League Cup, which united ultimately lost in a penalty shootout.
Onana joined Manchester United from Inter Milan for £47.2 million in 2023 but has faced criticism for inconsistent performances. He missed pre-season matches due to a back thigh muscle injury.
currently with the Cameroon national team, Onana could make his debut for Trabzonspor against Fenerbahce next Sunday.
The transfer is the latest in a series of departures from Manchester United this summer, following the recent moves of Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea on a seven-year contract and Rasmus Højlund to Napoli on a season-long loan.
