“Andor” Production Costs Soar to $698.3 million, surpassing Star Wars Film Budgets
London, UK – November 22, 2025 – Disney’s critically acclaimed Star Wars series, “Andor,” has reached a staggering production cost of $698.3 million across its two seasons, according to newly disclosed financial records reported by Forbes. The figure reflects spending through November 22nd, 2024, with an additional $60.5 million allocated to the final weeks of filming and post-production for the show’s second season.
The substantial budget eclipses the production costs of any previous Star Wars feature film. While final post-production and release expenses for this year haven’t yet been tallied, they are expected to further increase the overall total when released next year.
The series’ high cost is partially attributed to its extensive use of practical effects and physical sets. Filming in the UK necessitates public financial filings from production companies, revealing production costs – though excluding marketing expenditures.
Despite the significant outlay, Disney benefited from substantial UK Government tax breaks, receiving approximately $142.3 million in reimbursements and tax credits, covering 25.5% of funds spent within the country. Factoring in an insurance payout and pandemic grant, Disney’s net spending on “andor” currently stands at $552.4 million.
The production also boasts the highest wage bill of any Disney project filmed in the UK over the last fifteen years, totaling $85.5 million paid to staff.
