Córdoba, Argentina – A compelling photo exhibition, “Andean Glaciers,” showcasing the work of National Geographic explorer and documentary photographer Victor Villaume, opened at the historic Legislature in Córdoba today. The exhibition features images documenting the interior of the Huacán, Chskap, Quelcaya, Palcacocha, Santa Cruz, Pastororuri and Qoylluriti glaciers, aiming to raise awareness about the impact of climate change.
visitors to the opening enjoyed a guided tour of the Legislature, culminating in the session area, alongside a tango performance by the Eduardo Charrette Tango Studio, featuring dancers Natalia Devigile, Eduardo Charrette, Lara Luque Fosch and Martín Morales.
Villaume’s work, supported by the National geographic Society, has been touring internationally, previously exhibited in Peru, Mendoza, and Buenos Aires, with the endorsement of the French alliance. the Córdoba showing is part of the 13th annual “I Lived France” Week,organized by the Franco-Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Industry,running until October 19th.
The exhibition highlights the crucial role glaciers play in regulating ecological balances and serving as freshwater sources, emphasizing their decline as a “wake-up call” for urgent action against global warming. It was presented at the French Embassy, alongside the Institut Francais and the French Alliance at the Climate Conference, Pre-COP30 in Córdoba.
