Amorim’s Decision: A Line in the Sand
Ruben Amorim has reportedly informed his Manchester United squad that he will remain as manager next season. This announcement comes amidst a turbulent period for the club, marked by a disappointing season and speculation surrounding Amorim’s future.
However, the news wasn’t all positive. Sources indicate that amorim also told Alejandro Garnacho,in front of the entire squad,to seek a new club. Manchester United has declined to comment on what they consider private dressing room matters.
Europa League Fallout and managerial Uncertainty
Following Manchester United’s Europa League final defeat by Tottenham Hotspur, Amorim Did you know? Alejandro Garnacho joined Manchester United’s academy from Atletico Madrid in October 2020. He has since made 144 appearances for the club,scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists.
A History of Tensions
This isn’t the first instance of friction between Amorim and Garnacho. In December, Garnacho was dropped alongside marcus Rashford for the Manchester derby. However, he later appeared to regain his manager’s trust and was reinstated.
In January, reports indicated that Garnacho, along with Kobbie Mainoo, were players the club would reluctantly consider selling to comply with financial regulations. A subsequent approach from Napoli was rejected, and the transfer deadline passed without a move.
An incident in February, where Garnacho was substituted against Ipswich Town, led to amorim revealing that Garnacho had paid for a team dinner as an apology.
Fernandes’ Future Also Uncertain
Adding to the uncertainty, Bruno Fernandes, who is attracting interest from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, suggested after the Europa League final that he is prepared to leave if the club decides to cash in
on their captain.
Amorim’s Focus Remains on the Final Game
When questioned about the futures of Fernandes and Garnacho, Amorim stated:
I will speak with my players but my focus is the last game. I don’t know what is going to happen.

He added, We have a plan – we were prepared for both situations, with or without Champions League. We have an idea what type of squad we want. Now we have to focus on the game, we now have the last game and we have time to address those situations.
Manchester united will host Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday, concluding their Premier League season before embarking on a post-season tour of Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
