Ken Burns‘ ”The American Revolution” too Premiere with Nebraska Community Event
GRAND ISLAND, NE - October 18, 2025 – As the nation gears up to celebrate its 250th anniversary, Nebraska Public Media and the Stuhr museum are offering a special preview of Ken Burns’ highly anticipated documentary, “The American Revolution.” The event, taking place Saturday, October 18th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Stuhr Museum (3133 US Highway 34, Grand Island), promises an immersive experience for all ages.
The free, open-house style event will feature screenings of excerpts from the six-part, 12-hour series, offering a first look at Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt’s expansive exploration of America’s founding struggle.Screenings will be held at 11:15 AM, 12:15 PM, and 1:15 PM, with each presentation followed by a thought-provoking discussion led by Susan Long, an American history lecturer from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Beyond the film previews, attendees can participate in “Threads of freedom: Quilting America’s Story,” a unique family engagement event celebrating the often-overlooked role of women and quilting in shaping American history. A hands-on quilting workshop will invite guests to contribute to a community quilt commemorating the America 250 milestone. The Stuhr Museum will also showcase a captivating pop-up exhibit featuring treasured quilts from its collection.
