Robin Wright Cites “Chaos” as Reason for Relocating from U.S. to England
LONDON – Actress Robin Wright, 59, known for her roles in Forrest Gump and House of Cards, has revealed she left the United States several years ago to seek a more peaceful life in the Chilterns, north of London. Wright described America as “a real chaos!” in a recent interview with The Times of London.
The actress expressed her affection for life in England, stating, “I love being in this country. Here there is a freedom to be yourself. People are so nice.” She contrasted this with the American lifestyle, which she characterized as focused on “race, competition and speed,” noting, “Everyone builds gigantic houses and I finished with all this. I like calm.”
Wright highlighted the slower pace of life she’s embraced in the English countryside. “Here, people live,” she observed. “They are not stuck in their car, in traffic jams, panicked on the phone while eating a sandwich.”
The move to England has also brought personal fulfillment for Wright, who has been in a relationship for a year with architect Henry Smith. The couple met serendipitously in a pub. Reflecting on her future, Wright shared, “I’m going to be 60 years old and I say to myself: ‘That’s it, well?’ I like to be alone and I have frequently enough been. But there, I say to myself: ‘I want to age with someone, travel and see the world.'”
