Amazon Officially Acquires James Bond Franchise for $20 Million,Total Value Perhaps Much Higher
CULVER CITY,CA – February 28,2025 – Amazon has finalized the acquisition of the James Bond franchise, along with associated assets and subsidiary companies B24 Limited and B25 Limited, for $20 million (USD),according to a recent company filing. The sale, initially announced earlier this year, marks a important shift for the broccoli family, who have controlled the Bond franchise for decades.
While the initial consideration is $20 million, the filing notes the potential for the final sale price to be considerably higher, potentially reaching closer to $1 billion, due to possible earnouts, bonuses, or stock options. The Broccoli family will maintain economic exposure to the franchise thru a joint venture structure with Amazon.
The Bond intellectual property was previously held by Danjaq, LLC. However, a new entity, London Operations, LLC, has recently been filing trademarks related to James Bond, indicating it is now the holding company for the Amazon-Broccoli joint venture. London Operations, established in Delaware in November 2024, shares an address with Amazon in Culver City, California.
Amazon declined to comment on the filing.
The deal follows Amazon’s acquisition of MGM and signals the tech giant’s ambitions to acquire top-shelf intellectual property. Amazon has already taken steps to develop future Bond films, hiring Amy Pascal and David heyman to shepherd the new installment and securing Dune director Denis Villeneuve to helm the next film.
Following the sale, EON Productions, led by Broccoli and Wilson, will shift its focus to “continued investment in smaller-scale films and autonomous productions,” according to the filing. The divestment “marks a significant change in the Group’s direction.”
