Kediri Resident Refuses Measles Testing for Child, Police Monitor Situation

Kediri, Indonesia ‌- A resident⁣ of Betet Village, Pesantren⁤ District, Kediri‍ City, identified ⁤only by the initials PR, declined medical examination – specifically a blood sample – for ⁤their child, who is suspected of‌ having measles, on Saturday, september 27, 2025. The‌ incident⁤ occurred in the RT 18 RW 07 neighborhood of Betet.

The refusal highlights ongoing challenges in public health outreach and the importance of community trust during potential outbreaks. While ⁣measles is a highly contagious and perhaps serious disease,⁣ particularly for young children, vaccine hesitancy ⁣and distrust of medical procedures can hinder preventative efforts. Local authorities are prioritizing a delicate balance between respecting individual autonomy and safeguarding public health.

According to official reports, Bhabinkamtibmas (Community Security Officer) for Betet Village and the Head of‍ Social‍ Affairs for Betet Village accompanied a team from the Pesantren 1 Public Health center to ‍PR’s home to conduct a further assessment.Despite their efforts, the ⁤family ultimately signed a statement rejecting the ⁤medical action.

“We accompanied the process to maintain a conducive habitat,” ⁣stated Kompol Siswandi, ‍Chief of the Islamic⁣ Boarding School police. “We advise the community to always prioritize health, especially when ther are indications of infectious diseases.”

Police confirm the situation remained orderly and safe following the refusal. Bhabinkamtibmas ⁢will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate ⁣with relevant parties ⁢to ensure the safety and health of local residents.
