Alianza Lima Beats San Martín for 3rd Place at 2026 South American Volleyball Clubs

Alianza Lima secured third place at the 2026 South American Volleyball Club Championship, defeating San Martín 3-1 on Sunday, February 22nd, at the Lucha Fuentes Coliseum in Villa El Salvador, Peru. The victory marks a successful run for the Peruvian team in a tournament featuring clubs from across the continent.

Alianza Lima took the first set with a score of 25-22, demonstrating early momentum. San Martín responded by winning the second set 25-18. The third set saw Alianza Lima regain control, winning 25-16, and they closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

The match was broadcast live on Latina TV (channels 2 and 702 HD), the Latina app and website, the Facebook channel of the Peruvian Volleyball Federation (FPV), and the website of the South American Volleyball Confederation (voleysur.org). It was also covered with minute-by-minute updates on RPP.pe.

Both teams had previously faced setbacks in the tournament, with Alianza Lima falling 3-0 to SESI of Brazil and San Martín losing 3-0 to Osasco. Despite these losses, both Peruvian clubs demonstrated competitive spirit throughout the championship.

The South American Volleyball Club Championship, held in Lima from February 18th to 22nd, featured nine teams divided into three groups. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Volleyball Club World Championship, with the winning teams earning berths to the global competition. Alongside Alianza Lima and San Martín, Regatas Lima also represented Peru in the tournament.

Ticket prices for the match between San Martín and SESI were S/20 for general admission, S/35 for preferred North and South seating, and S/40 for East seating, with West seating priced at S/55.

The tournament showcased the growing strength of Peruvian volleyball on the international stage, with three Peruvian teams participating and vying for a spot in the later stages of the competition. The event drew attention to the nation’s ability to host and compete at a high level in the sport.
