Algerian Students‍ Claim Gold at Moscow Mathematics ⁢Olympiad, President Tebboune extends Congratulations

MOSCOW – An ⁤Algerian student team has secured⁢ first place at the International Mathematics Olympiad held in Moscow, prompting congratulatory remarks from ‌President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The team, comprised of Ben Melouka Mohamed Amir, Ait Hamdouch Haitham, Boufedjighen ⁤Abdelnasser, and Hammadi Abdelilah, all students at ‌the National higher School of mathematics, distinguished themselves amongst international competitors.

The victory arrives at a⁤ pivotal moment for Algerian education,following President Tebboune’s recent expression of concern regarding declining enrollment in ‍mathematics programs. During a ‌visit to⁢ Constantine ten days⁤ prior, he noted that only 3% of students passed the mathematics portion of the Baccalauréat exam.This win underscores the potential of ⁢focused investment in ‌specialized ‌educational institutions like the National Higher School of Mathematics, which opened in‌ Sidi Abdallah, ‍Algiers, during the 2021/2022 academic year as part of a broader‍ initiative to expand Algeria’s ‍higher education offerings.

president Tebboune publicly lauded the⁤ team’s “exceptional performance,” stating, “All our congratulations to the Algerian representatives…for this ​exceptional performance in the Russian ⁤capital Moscow.” He further conveyed national pride,adding,”You are our⁢ pride. THANKS.” the achievement is expected to inspire increased interest⁣ in STEM fields among ⁣Algerian students and bolster ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s‍ educational infrastructure.
