A Grand Finale for the Alexandria International Theater Festival’s 15th Session
The Alexandria International Theater Festival concluded with a special ceremony honoring luminaries of Egyptian and Arab theater,and preparing to announce the winners of awards named in honor of artist Mohamed Heneidy.The event,held on the night dedicated to theater and creative arts enthusiasts,served as a culmination of the dedication and artistry of participating theatrical teams and creators.
The opening ceremony itself recognized significant contributions to the artistic landscape with honors bestowed upon director Issam El-Sayed, Dr. Ahmed Mujahid, artist Ali Al-Jundi, playwrights Mohamed Sorour and Sameh Othman, poet Yousry Hassan, writer Samia Jamal, director and set designer Mahmoud Fouad Sidqi, and artist Mohsen Mansour. This recognition acknowledged the profound influence of these pioneers on theatrical culture and their inspiration to emerging generations, celebrating a rich history of Egyptian theatrical innovation.
The 15th session of the festival ran from September 15th to September 20th in Alexandria Governorate, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture.The festival showcased a diverse range of theatrical performances from both local and Arab troupes, alongside art workshops and insightful discussions focused on the future of theater in the region. Notably, the festival highlighted innovative and engaging works, with a particular emphasis on experimental arts and plays addressing contemporary societal issues, fostering cultural and artistic exchange between artists and audiences.
