Alan Cumming Jokingly Invites Donald Trump to Join The Traitors at Emmy Awards
Los Angeles – Actor Alan Cumming extended a playful invitation to former President Donald Trump to compete on the reality competition series The Traitors during the 77th Emmy Awards on sunday, September 14. When asked backstage in the press room who he thoght would be a good addition to the show, cumming quipped, “I’m sure our president would be very good on the show … having a lot of chaos and sort of turmoil and treachery, so maybe he’d like to come on and be paid for that, probably better than he gets as president.”
The comment, made after The Traitors was named best reality competition series, draws a parallel between the show’s premise – identifying hidden “traitors” among a group – and perceptions of political maneuvering. While the likelihood of Trump appearing on the show during a potential second term is remote, the suggestion highlights his well-known history wiht reality television, having previously hosted and produced The Apprentice from 2004 to 2015.
The Traitors features contestants working together in a castle to win prize money while attempting to unmask hidden traitors within their ranks.Cumming, accepting the Emmy earlier in the evening, noted the show’s ability to “bring a little bit of joy into this life” despite challenging times.
The upcoming fourth season of the Traitors, hosted by cumming, will feature a cast including Donna Kelce, Lisa Rinna, Dorinda Medley, Ron Funches, Michael Rapaport, Monét X Change, Mark Ballas, and Rob Rausch. The Emmy Awards, hosted by Nate Bargatze, aired live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles.
