Poet Ziyad bin Nahit has sharply criticized the tendency of some Saudis to travel abroad for tourism, even when their financial resources are limited. He observed that many individuals leave their spacious homes only to find themselves in cramped accommodations elsewhere, and trade comfortable climates for extreme temperatures.

“Sit in your home and provide your money,” Bin nakhit advised. “Run your air conditioner and television,and write anything you love to see,and you will find it because all photographers in the world breathe on YouTube.”

Bin Nakhit further elaborated on the potential negative consequences of international travel. He recounted instances of Saudi families who traveled abroad, with some returning and others facing unfortunate circumstances, including disagreements, divorces during honeymoons, and marital breakdowns attributed to spousal differences.

He shared his own experience as a traveler with the Union of Saudi Chambers, noting that even with financial capability, his recreational travels revealed that places like Al-Batha offered a colder experience than Paris, suggesting that many European cities are not adequately equipped for comfort.

“Stay with your family and do not pressure your parents to travel as not everyone who traveled is domesticated,” he urged. “The costs in European countries are high, and people live in rooms as if they are refugees.”

Bin Nakhit also highlighted the financial risks involved, mentioning that many investors in foreign cafes have lost their money. He shared a personal anecdote about a friend from Riyadh who, ten years prior, experienced marital discord with his wife during their honeymoon and later divorced her in Paris.
