AJ Lee’s return Match Date Reportedly Set for WWE SummerSlam
WWE star AJ lee is reportedly scheduled to return to the ring at SummerSlam on August 3, according to a report from PWInsider. This marks a potential historic comeback for the former Divas Champion, who retired in March 2015 due to a cervical spine injury.
The planned return has generated significant excitement among wrestling fans, as Lee’s last match took place on the Raw after WrestleMania 31. At the time of her retirement, she was 28 years old and considered to be at the peak of her career. Her departure was particularly impactful given her role as a trailblazer for women in WWE, pioneering an “anti-diva” persona that predated the Women’s Revolution.
Lee’s return storyline began unfolding on recent episodes of Raw, featuring interactions with Becky Lynch and CM Punk. During a heated in-ring exchange, Lynch disparaged Lee, referring to her as “a dope that doesn’t work here.” Punk responded by warning Lynch of repercussions and hinting at an appearance on SmackDown with his wife, Lee, in chicago.
Before her forced retirement,Lee achieved considerable success in WWE,becoming a three-time Divas Champion and holding the title for a then-record 295 days. following her in-ring retirement, she worked as an executive producer and commentator for WOW – Women of Wrestling from 2021 to 2023.
The possibility of Lee returning to active competition was long considered unlikely due to the severity of her injury, making this SummerSlam appearance a highly anticipated event for both fans and the WWE.
