After 6 months, I’m still not over Samsung’s lazy Galaxy S25 launch

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is reportedly experiencing strong sales, with over 9 million units sold by early May, according to Hana Securities. This sales performance, when adjusted for launch date differences, appears to be on par with the Galaxy S24 series.

Despite these strong sales figures, the author expresses a desire for Samsung to innovate more substantially with its future smartphone releases. Specifically, the author hopes the upcoming Galaxy S26 series will feature improved cameras and a refreshed design for the S26 and S26 Plus models. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is also called for a design update and new features to justify its premium price, which may increase due to tariffs.

The author argues that while Samsung holds a dominant position in the U.S. Android market,it cannot afford to become complacent. With Apple gaining market share and othre Android manufacturers like Google, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, and HONOR releasing innovative products, Samsung needs to maintain its competitive edge. The author suggests that Samsung’s current “grace period” of relying on its reputation is diminishing, and 2026 could be a critical year for the company to demonstrate renewed innovation.
