Adrian Newey Documentary,”turbulence,” Set to Chronicle F1 Designer’s Aston Martin Move
A documentary focusing on Formula One designer Adrian Newey’s move to Aston Martin Aramco is in progress from Artists Equity,Whisper Group,and Mark Stewart Productions. Tentatively titled “Turbulence: The Greatest Mind in Formula One,” the film will follow Newey as he works to elevate the Aston Martin team. Production is being done in collaboration with Aston Martin Aramco and Formula 1.
Newey,a highly decorated figure in racing with 12 World constructors’ Championships and 14 World Drivers’ Championships to his name,surprised the racing world in early 2025 by leaving Red Bull to join Aston Martin Aramco.The documentary aims to capture the challenges of joining a new team amidst meaningful regulation changes in F1.
“Hopefully this film can portray the passion, the working practice, the strength of mind that is involved in bringing an F1 car to the grid,” Newey said. “The film charts the challenges I have faced in joining a new team in early March to prepare for what is arguably the biggest regulation change in F1 history. It also delves into the story behind my career up to this point and how it has helped to prepare me for this enormous challenge. It’s been a wild ride so far,but F1 never stands still.”
Artists Equity CEO Ben Affleck stated the film is “about so much more than just racing, it’s about a living legend whose unrivaled career is full of ambition and reinvention.”
The documentary will be executive produced by Affleck and Artists Equity co-founder Matt Damon, alongside Kyle Wheeler, the company’s head of unscripted. Brian Venturo, Stephen O’Connor, Drew Masters, Chris Grubb, Sunil Patel, and Emma Everitt will executive produce for Whisper, and Mark Stewart for MSP. Patrick Mark and Michael Tolajian are set to executive produce and direct.
Artists Equity, co-founded in 2022 with Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital, recently released films including “Air,” “The Instigators,” and “The Accountant 2.”
