Administration Targets 100 Fishing Villages Ready by End of 2026, says Teddy
Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and Deputy Minister Didit Herdiawan Ashaf met with President Prabowo Subianto at his home in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Friday, Oct. 9, where the leader asked for a status report on the construction of 100 fishing villages.
Operational Target Set for 2026
The administration has set a target for all 100 fishing villages to be ready for operation by the end of 2026, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. Teddy noted via a statement that these locations will be equipped with diverse amenities, such as docks for fishing operations, ice plants to preserve the freshness of fish, and cold storage units.
Strengthening the Fisheries Value Chain
The government is also preparing markets where fishers can sell their catches.
By spanning operations from catching and keeping fish to selling seafood items, these installations aim to fortify the fisheries value chain, elevate the well-being of coastal populations, and bolster the broader marine and fisheries network.
Expanding Operational Capacity at Sea
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani and Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono updated the President regarding the advancement of the initial 100 fisher villages and the allocation of boat support for fishers during a distinct gathering in Hambalang, Bogor regency, West Java province, on Tuesday (01/09).

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya emphasized the necessity of cross-ministerial cooperation to guarantee that the fisher villages project and the delivery of fisher amenities function cohesively and yield tangible advantages for recipients, as the state persists in promoting initiatives that boost output and prosperity for fishers throughout multiple areas.
