Barcelona – Google showcased a series of advanced innovations at Mobile World Congress 2026, centered around its Android experience, transforming a dedicated area into a bustling hub of demonstrations and upcoming product previews.
Visitors experienced a first seem at prototype Android XR smart glasses, witnessing real-time, AI-powered translations during a conversation with a Google employee speaking Spanish. The translation appeared on the right lens without obstructing the user’s field of view, while simultaneously utilizing Google Maps for navigation without visual interruption, highlighting the potential of the glasses to enhance daily interactions. This demonstration aligns with Google Cloud’s broader targeting of telco networks and operations with artificial intelligence, as reported at MWC 2026.
Gemini’s capabilities were demonstrated through voice-activated trip planning for vegetarian diets, seamlessly adding the itinerary to a Google Preserve note and concurrently booking an Uber ride in the background. Another demonstration featured an updated Circle to Search function, capable of identifying clothing items and enabling a virtual try-on experience. The feature generated a realistic image of the user wearing an orange-red pair of trousers.
A new “Quick Share” feature, combining elements of AirDrop and Quick Share, facilitated seamless image transfer between a Pixel 10 and an iPhone. Adding a playful element to the exhibit, Android statues were observed “cleaning” a window of the Google booth. These interactive elements transformed the experience beyond traditional static displays.
