The Peruvian Ministry of Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) began accepting applications on February 23rd for the 2026 Strategy for Entrepreneurship of Rural and Indigenous Women (EEMRI), a program offering non-reimbursable funding to women-led agricultural organizations. The initiative, executed by the Agroideas program, will distribute up to 10 million soles (approximately $2.7 million USD) in grants.
The EEMRI aims to bolster the economic autonomy of rural and indigenous women by providing financial support for their agricultural, livestock and forestry ventures. Organizations can receive up to 25 UIT (Tax Unit), equivalent to 137,500 soles, per organization. The funding covers a range of inputs and improvements, including certified seeds, fertilizers, organic amendments, livestock – specifically poultry, guinea pigs, sheep, pigs, and goats – and essential equipment like smaller vehicles and tillers. Infrastructure projects, such as the construction or renovation of sheds, greenhouses, and post-harvest facilities, are also eligible for funding.
Beyond direct financial assistance, the EEMRI also supports technical assistance, training in organizational and productive management, economic decision-making, and commercial articulation, as well as professional services for formulating the required Plan de Emprendimiento de la Mujer Rural e Indígena (PEMRI). The program will finance 90% of the total budget of the PEMRI, with a maximum execution period of 12 months, starting the day after the agreement is signed between Agroideas and the participating organization.
The application process involves submitting a “Request for Eligibility” to Agroideas offices in Peru’s 24 regions. The deadline for submitting eligibility requests is March 9th. Interested organizations can find detailed information, including formats and requirements, on the Agroideas website and at regional offices. This is the third consecutive year MIDAGRI has allocated 10 million soles to the EEMRI, demonstrating a continued commitment to supporting women’s entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.
