Apple TV+ has canceled the critically acclaimed comedy series Palm Royale after two seasons, Deadline reported on Tuesday. The decision comes less than a year after the demonstrate’s second season concluded in January, leaving its central storyline unfinished.
The series, based on Julie McDaniel’s 2018 novel Mr. & Mrs. American Pie, premiered on March 20, 2024, and comprised a total of 20 episodes, according to Deadline and Wikipedia. Despite receiving 11 Emmy nominations for its first season, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Palm Royale did not achieve the mainstream success of other Apple TV+ comedies like Ted Lasso or The Studio, 9to5Mac reported.
Palm Royale starred Kristen Wiig as Maxine Simmons, a woman attempting to infiltrate Palm Beach high society. The ensemble cast also included Ricky Martin, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, and Carol Burnett. The show won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.
While the series garnered critical attention, its average ratings on Rotten Tomatoes were 60%, and it received a 6.8/10 on IMDb. According to 9to5Mac, this may have contributed to the decision not to renew for a third season.
Apple declined to comment on the cancellation when contacted by Deadline. The second season premiered on November 12, 2025, and concluded on January 14, 2026, as noted by Wikipedia and Apple’s own promotional materials. A celebratory reception for the second season, attended by the cast and special guests, was held on October 21, 2025, at the Sun Rose Hotel in Los Angeles, according to Apple.
Apple TV+ is available for $12.99 per month and features other popular shows such as F1 The Movie, Pluribus, Severance, The Morning Show, Shrinking, and Silo.
