Actor Byun Yo-han and Girls’ Generation member Choi Sooyoung are set to become parents, their agencies confirmed Monday. The news marks a significant personal milestone for both entertainers, who have established themselves as prominent figures in South Korea’s entertainment industry.
Byun, who debuted in 2011, gained widespread recognition for his role in the 2014 television series Misaeng: Incomplete Life, a workplace drama lauded for its realistic depiction of Korean corporate culture. He has since appeared in productions such as the 2018 series Mr. Sunshine and the 2022 film Hansan: Rising Dragon.
Choi Sooyoung began her career in 2007 as a member of the globally successful K-pop group Girls’ Generation. The group achieved national prominence and played a key role in the expansion of the Korean Wave. In recent years, Sooyoung has transitioned into acting, with roles in the 2022 drama Reborn Rich and a 2021 production of the Broadway musical Chicago. She is the first member of Girls’ Generation to marry.
The couple’s agencies have not disclosed further details regarding the expected due date or other personal information. Sooyoung’s bandmate, Lee Soon-kyu (known as Sooyoung), has been in a long-term relationship with actor Jung Kyung-ho for over thirteen years.
