The TGL season is poised for a dramatic conclusion as three matches over the next three days will determine the playoff picture and who will compete for the inaugural SoFi Cup. Sunday night’s matchup between Jupiter Links GC, led by PGA star Tiger Woods, and Boston Common Golf, captained by Rory McIlroy, carries significant weight in the league standings.
Whereas Woods, still recovering from injury, will not play, he will be present for the match and has selected a strong lineup featuring Tom Kim, who makes his season debut alongside Max Homa and Akshay Bhatia. McIlroy, aiming to orchestrate a remarkable turnaround for his Boston team, will field a squad consisting of himself, Hideki Matsuyama, and Keegan Bradley.
A victory for Boston Common Golf on Sunday night, or an overtime loss, would secure the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Boston has shown considerable improvement this season, particularly in recent matches, following a 5-2 loss to Atlanta Drive on Monday and a dominant 9-2 win against New York Golf Club on Tuesday. A win would mark a significant shift for the team, which finished last in the league during its inaugural season in 2025.
The rivalry between Jupiter Links GC and Boston Common Golf has already produced a memorable moment in TGL history. Their first-ever match in 2025 went into overtime, with Jupiter ultimately prevailing 4-3.
Tom Kim’s addition to Jupiter’s lineup provides a boost as he enters the match with a consistent, though not spectacular, start to his 2026 PGA Tour season, having made all five cuts thus far. Jupiter, which recently ended a five-match losing streak with an 8-6 victory over Atlanta Drive GC, needs a strong finish to secure a playoff berth. The team has two matches remaining, and a win in at least one is crucial for their postseason hopes.
Boston and Atlanta Drive have already clinched playoff spots, leaving several scenarios in play for the remaining teams. Jupiter Links GC’s playoff fate hinges on the outcomes of its remaining matches. A win in both matches against Boston and The Bay would guarantee a playoff spot. However, a win against Boston followed by a loss to The Bay would require a tiebreaker scenario involving holes won, contingent on New York defeating Los Angeles in regulation. A loss to Boston but a win against The Bay would likewise likely lead to a tiebreaker. Jupiter will be eliminated from playoff contention if it loses both matches, unless both losses are decided in overtime.
The match is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+. All TGL matches are held at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a venue designed with seating for 1,500 fans, creating an immersive ‘greenside’ experience.
The TGL match format consists of Triples – nine holes played in an alternate-shot format with three players per team – and Singles – six holes of one-on-one, head-to-head competition. In the event of a tie after 15 holes, a best-of-three, closest-to-the-pin competition will determine the winner, utilizing the same hole location and green orientation as the final hole of regulation play. The shot distance in overtime will be between 25-50 yards, predetermined by the match official, with all players shooting from the same spot. Only shots landing on the putting surface will be eligible.
Teams can earn up to two points towards their regular-season total per match: two points for a win in regulation or overtime, one point for a loss in overtime, and zero points for a loss in regulation.
