Heart-Healthy Beef Recipes | Wisconsin Beef Council – 2026

The Wisconsin Beef Council highlighted heart-healthy beef recipes on Friday, March 1, 2026, as part of an ongoing effort to promote lean beef consumption. The initiative featured recipes designed to be incorporated into a balanced diet, according to a video released by PeachtreeTV.

Angie Horkan of the Wisconsin Beef Council has been central to promoting these recipes, particularly those geared towards busy families. In September 2025, Horkan presented easy meal options for school nights, including French Onion Meatball Subs, utilizing 93% lean ground beef. The recipe calls for a combination of ground beef, egg, onion soup mix, bread crumbs, and pepper, formed into meatballs and served with a caramelized onion gravy over sub rolls with Gruyere cheese.

Recent recipes shared by the Wisconsin Beef Council also focus on health-conscious cooking methods. WSAW News reported on February 11, 2026, that Horkan shared two recipes featuring lean beef, fresh produce, and whole grains. One recipe, a heart-healthy steak salad with a spicy kick, was highlighted alongside other options. A flavorful air-fried beef dish, approved by the American Heart Association, was also featured on WSAW on the same date.

The council’s efforts extend beyond traditional recipes. WSAW also reported on February 3, 2026, on innovative potato chip charcuterie nachos and recipes utilizing Wisconsin potatoes for February events. Earlier in the year, on January 14, 2026, a beefy, cheesy ravioli recipe with a Greek twist and a healthy steak and zoodle dish aimed at Novel Year’s resolutions were also promoted. Even festive cocktail recipes from Knowlton House Distillery were shared at the end of 2025, demonstrating a broad approach to culinary promotion.

The Wisconsin Beef Council has also partnered with Wisconsin food bloggers to create new grilling recipes, according to the Wisconsin Beef Council website. The French Onion Meatball Sub recipe specifically notes that ground beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F, emphasizing food safety.
