Houston BBQ Festival: World’s Largest Cook-Off | Brisket Competition

More than 250 barbecue teams are competing at the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest in Houston, Texas, which began Thursday, February 26, 2026, and continues through Saturday, February 28, 2026.

The contest, presented by Cotton Holdings, draws teams from across the United States and internationally, vying for titles in categories including brisket, ribs, and chicken. While most team tents are invitation-only, the event offers public access to venues including The Garden Stage, presented by Miller Lite, the Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon, and the Chuckwagon. A Carnival, presented by First Community, is also open to the public.

Attendees at the Rockin’ Bar-B-Que Saloon can enjoy live and DJ music, as well as complimentary BBQ plates – sliced brisket, beans, and chips – starting at 9 p.m. Each night. The Bud Light Plaza Gate will be cashless after 9 p.m. Each evening.

Admission to the Bar-B-Que Contest is $30 for adults (13 & over) and $10 for children (3-12), with free admission for children age two and under. A Grounds Season Pass, priced at $65, provides daily admission to the Bar-B-Que Contest and other public activities at NRG Park, NRG Center & NRG Arena, but does not include access to the rodeo or concert events in NRG Stadium.

The contest schedule includes events on Thursday from 5 p.m. To 11 p.m., Friday from noon to 11 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. To 11 p.m. The Contest Awards Presentation will be held at The Garden Stage on Saturday at 7 p.m.
