Aruba’s Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort has extended its record as a global leader in sustainable tourism, achieving recertification from Green Globe and maintaining its status as the only hotel in the world with two perfect 100 percent Green Globe scores.

The resort’s ongoing commitment to environmental performance, spanning over two decades, was confirmed through a comprehensive remote audit verifying compliance with Green Globe’s international standards. Bucuti & Tara as well continues to hold Green Globe Platinum status, recognizing sustained excellence in environmental, social and economic performance. It is uniquely designated by Green Globe as “The World’s Most Sustainable Hotel/Resort.”

Sustainability initiatives have been integral to Bucuti & Tara’s operations for nearly four decades, focusing on measurable programs encompassing energy efficiency, water stewardship, waste reduction, ethical sourcing, staff education, biodiversity protection, and community engagement. The resort has implemented over 400 sustainability action initiatives, according to a statement released by the property.

Recent advancements include a fully electric kitchen at the resort’s signature restaurant, Elements. The transition eliminated gas use and resulted in an 18 percent reduction in energy consumption. Bucuti & Tara plans to complete the conversion of its laundry facilities to fully electric systems in 2026, eliminating all gas-dependent operations on the property.

The resort is also working towards Net Zero certification for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in 2026, a key milestone in its long-term environmental strategy. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the resort’s program was previously recognized by the UN with a Global Climate Action Award, described as “highly replicable and scalable.”

Beyond the resort itself, Bucuti & Tara is actively involved in environmental preservation through the Bucuti Tara–GMC Nature Preserve, a 32-acre protected area dedicated to reforestation and habitat restoration. In 2025, the resort planted its 1,200th tree in partnership with Ban Lanta y Planta, supporting biodiversity and carbon reduction efforts.

The resort’s commitment extends to animal welfare through the Stimami Sterilisami program, which has completed 46,352 pet sterilizations across Aruba since 2016, now fully subsidizing procedures islandwide.

Bucuti & Tara currently holds the No. 5 Hotel in the World and No. 1 Hotel in the Caribbean ranking on Tripadvisor.
