KitchenAid’s 2026 Color of the Year: Refreshing Spearmint Green

by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

KitchenAid unveiled Spearmint as its Color of the Year for 2026 on February 12, a pale mint-green hue designed to evoke a sense of calm and creative energy. The color, which features a tactile, sandy finish, will initially be available on the brand’s Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, priced at $549.99.

According to KitchenAid, Spearmint was selected after a three-year period of tracking trends in fashion, beauty, and interior design. Brittni Pertijs, Design Manager for Color, Material & Finish at Whirlpool Corporation, stated the team observed a lasting popularity of blues and greens in kitchen spaces, leading to the development of Spearmint as a balance between the two colors. The sandy texture was intentionally chosen to invite touch, mimicking the feel of mint leaves.

The announcement comes as blue-green tones are gaining prominence in kitchen redesigns, offering homeowners a way to introduce color without committing to bolder shades. Behr’s 2026 Color of the Year, Hidden Gem, a smoky jade, reflects this broader trend, as does the increasing momentum of Jade and Cool Blue identified by Pinterest’s trend team.

KitchenAid describes Spearmint as light, uplifting, and versatile, designed to “refresh the senses and find a moment of clarity.” The color is intended to complement natural materials like wood and stone, as well as softer neutral tones such as off-white, warm beige, and light gray. The brand suggests incorporating the color beyond appliances, through accessories like ceramic bowls, linens, cookbooks, and artwork.

This is not the first time KitchenAid has looked to the past for color inspiration. The company notes that Spearmint was popular in the 1950s, representing optimism and freshness in post-war interiors, aligning with a current revival of mid-century modern aesthetics in fashion, and design.

KitchenAid launched its Color of the Year program in 2017, using it to highlight its trend forecasting work. Previous Colors of the Year have included Butter in 2025 and Beetroot in 2022.
