Philips AMF870/15: 3-in-1 Air Purifier, Heater & Fan Review

by Rachel Kim – Technology Editor

Philips has launched a new air purifier, the Air Performer 8000 Series (AMF870/15), positioning it as a competitor to Dyson’s offerings with a similar design. The device, which retails for around €388 to €532 depending on the vendor, purifies air for rooms up to 70 square meters and also functions as a fan and heater.

The AMF870/15 features a HEPA filter and is controlled via a remote or a mobile application. Les Numeriques reports the purifier offers “very good purification performance” and “reasonable consumption,” but notes the absence of tactile controls on the unit itself and a slight humming sound when it shuts down. The device’s ability to both heat and ventilate spaces is highlighted as a key feature.

Several retailers are currently listing the Philips Air Performer 2-in-1 Air Purifier & Fan (AMF870/15) on Amazon, Fnac.com, Darty Marketplace, and Cdiscount Marketplace, with prices ranging from approximately €388 to €410. Higher prices, exceeding €500, are listed at Darty.com and Fnac.com.

A Reddit user noted the AMF870/15 is intended to address issues experienced with Dyson purifiers, specifically a “whistling, high-pitched noise” that some users found disruptive. The Philips model aims to provide similar functionality – air purification, fan, and heating – without the reported noise issues.

The purifier’s specifications, as detailed by Les Numeriques, include an air flow rate of 270 m³/h, a HEPA, carbon, and pre-filter technology, automatic mode, ten speed settings, and a timer. It weighs 8.48 kg and measures 106.4 x 32.5 x 32.5 cm.
