Groningen police arrested a 45-year-vintage man on Sunday after he damaged a front door on the Bedumerstraat with an axe. Prosecutors have since dropped the case, citing a reconciliation between the suspect and the complainant.

Police responded to reports of the incident on the Bedumerstraat, a street containing 283 addresses in the Oud-Noord neighborhood of Groningen, according to property listings. The Bedumerstraat includes buildings dating back to 1916 and more recent constructions from 1993. The average home size in the area is approximately 72 square meters.

Authorities confirmed that both the man and the homeowner were known to each other. Following questioning, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) determined that the case would not proceed further, indicating that the parties involved had resolved their dispute. No further details regarding the nature of the dispute or the terms of the reconciliation have been released.

The Bedumerstraat is located near the Noorderplantsoen park and is within walking distance of numerous shops and supermarkets, according to property advertisements. The street’s postcode is 9716.

Data from the Kadaster, CBS, and the Ministry of the Interior indicates that the Bedumerstraat’s address data and energy labels are current as of 2026. Traffic accident data for the area is available through Rijkswaterstaat, with the most recent information dating back to 2024.
