A multi-county police chase originating in Midlothian, Texas, concluded early Thursday morning with a crash in Fort Worth and the arrest of five individuals, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department.
The pursuit began at approximately 3:22 a.m. When a deputy observed shots being fired from a vehicle near the intersection of FM 875 and FM 663 in Midlothian. When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver fled, triggering a chase that extended through multiple jurisdictions, including Grand Prairie and Arlington. Occupants of the vehicle continued to discharge firearms at pursuing officers during the chase, officials stated.
Law enforcement agencies from several cities collaborated in the effort to apprehend the suspects. Fort Worth police ultimately deployed tire deflation devices, successfully disabling the vehicle near Camp Bowie Boulevard. The vehicle overturned bringing the chase to an complete. A tactical unit and a drone were deployed to assess the scene and any injuries sustained.
Four of the five occupants were transported to local hospitals and remain under police custody while receiving medical attention. The fifth individual was taken into custody without requiring hospitalization. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those arrested, nor have they announced the specific charges they may face.
The incident resulted in the closure of Camp Bowie Boulevard during the morning commute, and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes. No officers or deputies were reported injured during the pursuit or apprehension of the suspects.
