New Lara Croft Actress: ‘No Laras Left Behind’ for Tomb Raider: Catalyst

Alix Wilton Regan will embody the latest iteration of Lara Croft in the forthcoming Tomb Raider: Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a transition following Camilla Luddington’s portrayal of the character in the Survivor trilogy. Regan has articulated a guiding principle for her performance: honoring the legacy of previous Lara Crofts while forging a new path.

Speaking on the Press X to Continue podcast, Regan described her approach as “no Laras left behind,” indicating an intention to synthesize elements from the character’s diverse history. “I’ve looked at all of the performances,” Regan stated, according to Eurogamer. “Obviously, I’ve got all the scripts, so I know where it’s going, and, you know, I think all of the Laras that have previously come before will also be informing as we move into a new era of Tomb Raider, I would say.”

The announcement of Regan’s casting occurred at The Game Awards in December 2025, alongside the reveal of Tomb Raider: Catalyst, developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Amazon Game Studios. The game is slated for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of the original Tomb Raider game utilizing Unreal Engine 5, is scheduled for release in 2026.

Luddington, who played Lara Croft in the critically acclaimed reboot trilogy, acknowledged the change in a recent Instagram post, expressing her affection for the fanbase and stating that Lara Croft would “forever be a part of” her. She extended well wishes to Regan, offering a symbolic bow and arrow from Croft Manor.

Regan’s previous voice acting roles include Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3, Alt Cunningham in Cyberpunk 2077, and Aya in Assassin’s Creed Origins, demonstrating a substantial background in the video game industry. She is also a Founding Director of the London On Film Festival and a director, having directed the short film She Lies Sleeping in 2019. Her experience extends beyond voice function, with training from Drama Studio London.

Crystal Dynamics has not yet detailed specific aspects of Regan’s interpretation of Lara Croft beyond the “no Laras left behind” philosophy. The studio has not responded to requests for comment regarding the narrative direction of Tomb Raider: Catalyst or Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
