Stetson Leads Babs Steffens Invitational After Round 2 | Women’s Golf

DEBARY, Fla. — Stetson University’s women’s golf team carded a 287 in the second round of the Babs Steffens Invitational on Monday, taking a four-stroke lead at the 16-team tournament held at DeBary Country Club. The Hatters are aiming for their third consecutive championship at the event, which concludes Tuesday.

Stetson finished the day at +15 following an opening-round 296. Appalachian State trails in second place at +19. The tournament, which began Monday, February 23rd and runs through Tuesday, February 24th, features a field of collegiate women’s golf programs including Drake, Georgia State, and Troy, according to Stetson University Athletics.

Isaki Sakashita is currently second individually at -1, three strokes behind Appalachian State’s Zoe Duval. Sakashita recorded rounds of 70 and 71. Ailsa Brannock sits in third place at +2, with scores of 71 and 73. Julieta Oviedo improved significantly from a first-round 78 to an even-par 71, tying for fifth at +6.

Filippa Jansson similarly showed improvement, posting a 72 in the second round after a 79, and is tied for 13th at +9. Anna Huettl is tied for 34th at +16 (78-80).

Competing as individuals for Stetson, Elizabeth Eberle is tied for 46th at +19 (81-80). Bridget Butler and freshman Maggie Potash are tied for 63rd at +24, with Butler scoring 80 and 86, and Potash carding 81 and 85. Victoria Leach is tied for 71st at +27 (88-81), and Grace Smith is 89th at +44 (95-91).

The Hatters lead the tournament with 22 birdies and are tied for third in pars with 107 through two rounds. The final round is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at DeBary Country Club.
