Malaysian actress Amyza Aznan’s eldest son, Andre Mikhail, died on Monday evening at the age of 23, following a year-long battle with stage 3 lung cancer, according to reports from Malaysian media outlets.
The news of Andre Mikhail’s passing came just days after Aznan revealed that her second son, 18-year-old Adrian Adam, had been diagnosed with bone cancer. Aznan shared the double diagnosis on Instagram on February 19th, expressing her grief and uncertainty in a post written in both Malay and English. “Just like last year, during Ramadan and their birth month, my son Andre Mikhail was diagnosed with lung cancer. And this year, again during Ramadan and February, my other son, Adrian Adam, has been diagnosed with bone cancer,” she wrote. She added, “I am only human and a mother. I feel so many things that express, and I am even afraid to speak of them. All I can do is inquire for prayers for my sons, Andre Mikhail and Adrian Adam.”
Aznan publicly announced her son’s death on her Instagram story, requesting prayers for Andre Mikhail, referring to a chapter of the Quran recited for the deceased, according to Channel NewsAsia. He was buried on Tuesday morning at approximately 10:45 am local time, Malaysian publication mStar reported.
During an interview with Malaysian television network TV3 on Tuesday morning, Aznan openly expressed her grief, stating she did not “feel strong enough” to cope with the tragedy.
Amyza Aznan is a well-known figure in Malaysian entertainment, having appeared in popular television dramas including Rindu Kasih, Reversi, and Mat Bond Malaya. She shares three sons – the late Andre Mikhail, Adrian Adam, and Ayden Andika – with her husband, Khairil Idzhar.
