SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara University women’s tennis team suffered a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Nevada on Monday at the Degheri Tennis Center, as the Wolf Pack secured both the doubles point and four of the six singles matches.
The match was clinched by Nevada’s Silvia-Maria Costach, who overcame a second-set setback to defeat Santa Clara’s Anna Rahman 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 on court four. Rahman, a sophomore, had previously posted a team-high 14 singles wins during the 2024-25 season, according to Santa Clara University’s athletic website.
Santa Clara’s two points came from victories in the singles competition by Lizanne Boyer and Juliette Krumholz. Boyer defeated Marlene Foerster 6-3, 6-4 on court two, leveling the team score at 1-1 after Nevada had taken the doubles point. Krumholz followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kariman Buqai on court six, narrowing Nevada’s lead to 3-2.
Nevada secured the remaining singles matches. Amahee Charrier defeated Daniella Dimitrova 6-2, 6-2 on court one, and Petra Janigova bested Tian Yu Dong 6-1, 6-3 on court three, giving the Wolf Pack a 3-1 advantage. Kennedy Robinson completed the scoring with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Ashley Katz on court five.
In doubles play, Nevada dominated, winning all three matches. The team of Silvia-Maria Costach and Marlene Foerster defeated Tian Yu Dong and Ashley Katz 6-1, whereas Amahee Charrier and Kennedy Robinson overcame Daniella Dimitrova and Anna Rahman 6-3. The third doubles match between Santa Clara’s Lizanne Boyer and Juliette Krumholz and Nevada’s Kariman Buqai and Petra Janigova was unfinished at 5-5.
Santa Clara (2-6) will next host CSUN at the Degheri Tennis Center on Thursday, with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m. PT.
