A recent car charger hitting the market aims to solve a common frustration: forgetting where you parked. The Scosche FoundIT 12V charger, released this month, combines a dual-USB port power adapter with a built-in tracking device compatible with both Apple’s Find My network and Google’s Find Hub.
The device features a 20W USB-C port and a 12W USB-A port, providing ample power for charging smartphones, tablets, and other commonly used devices, according to a review published by ZDNET on February 23, 2026. While more powerful chargers exist for laptops and other high-demand electronics, the FoundIT is designed to meet the needs of typical mobile users.
What sets the FoundIT apart is its integrated finder tag. Once configured with either the Apple Find My app or the Google Find Hub app, users can locate their vehicle’s last known location on a map. ZDNET testing showed a Bluetooth range of approximately 100 feet with accurate location data within the Find My app. The device too includes a 60dB speaker to aid in locating the charger itself if it’s misplaced within the vehicle.
Scosche addressed the issue of battery life by incorporating a rechargeable battery into the charger. This battery is automatically replenished when the charger is plugged into a car’s 12V socket. Even when unplugged, the battery is designed to last up to three months, ensuring the tracking functionality remains active for an extended period. Users may require to initially charge the device before activation, according to ZDNET’s review.
The FoundIT 12V charger is currently available for $23.99, making it an affordable option for those prone to misplacing their vehicles, or for individuals participating in car-sharing arrangements. ZDNET notes that the compatibility with both Apple and Google’s tracking networks prevents potential misuse, as the device’s presence can be detected by either platform.
According to MakeMeTechie, the charger’s sustained 32W output doesn’t cause overheating. The device’s utility extends even to vehicles with multiple built-in USB ports, offering additional charging capacity for passengers or multiple devices.
