A Ford Raptor T1+ rally car soared over a Red Bull Racing RB7 Formula 1 car on a San Francisco street on Saturday, February 18, 2026, as part of a promotional event ahead of the Red Bull Showrun. The stunt, performed on Broadway’s 11-degree hill, saw off-road racer Mitch Guthrie Jr. Launch the Dakar-spec truck at approximately 45 mph toward a five-degree ramp, clearing the stationary Formula 1 car driven by Scott Speed.
The demonstration was intended to build excitement for the Red Bull Showrun, a series of Formula 1 demonstrations taking place across the United States. The event drew tens of thousands of spectators, with streets closed between Baker and Buchanan. Red Bull described the Showrun as an opportunity to bring “spectators’ hearts race” with displays of Formula 1 cars and other motorsport vehicles.
The Ford Raptor T1+, built by M-Sport and designed for the grueling Dakar Rally, features a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and a carbon-fiber body. The vehicle boasts 15.7 inches of ground clearance and 37-inch off-road tires, according to Ford. The T1+ made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and recently completed the 2025 Dakar Rally, achieving a third-place finish in the Ultimate category, marking Ford’s first participation in the event.
The San Francisco event was not without incident. Former Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda’s demonstration car caught fire after a test run, though he was able to exit the vehicle unharmed. Videos of the incident circulated widely on social media.
Ford’s involvement in the Red Bull Showrun follows a broader partnership with the energy drink company, which dates back to last year with Ford’s return to Formula 1. The collaboration extends to powertrain support during testing, as evidenced by recent activity in Bahrain.
Following the Showrun, Red Bull and Ford are preparing for the Australian Grand Prix, scheduled to begin on March 8 in Melbourne.
