Prince Andrew: Succession Removal & Royal Family Updates

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

King Charles III issued a statement Thursday acknowledging the arrest of his brother, former Prince Andrew, on suspicion of misconduct in public office, stating, “The law must take its course.” The arrest occurred on Andrew’s 66th birthday, following the release of modern files linked to Jeffrey Epstein.

According to Buckingham Palace, the former Prince was detained in connection with allegations of forwarding confidential trade documents to Epstein. Andrew served as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment from 2001 to 2011, a role that required maintaining the confidentiality of trade-related information. The newly released Epstein files reportedly show Andrew sending reports about trips to Vietnam and Singapore in 2010 to Epstein.

Charles’ statement, released shortly after news of the arrest broke, emphasized the importance of due process. “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the King said. He added, “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities,” and affirmed that the royal family would offer “full and wholehearted support and co-operation” to the investigation.

The King concluded by stating, “As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

If convicted under the Official Secrets Act, Andrew could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. The investigation is ongoing, and no further comment has been issued by Buckingham Palace.
