The Southeast Missouri State University women’s tennis team suffered a 4-0 defeat against the University of Memphis on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The match, held in Memphis, Tennessee, saw the Redhawks struggle against a strong Memphis side.
Memphis secured the doubles point with victories on courts three and two. Natalia Koppova and Rebecca Frant defeated Sofia Zemtsova and Yontha Tadoum 6-1 at the No. 3 doubles position. Alicia Mall and Clemence Thouard followed with a 6-1 win over Maja Bajorek and Mia Mayerova at No. 2 doubles. The No. 1 doubles match, featuring Kristina Kozakova and Juliette Demunck against Sofiia Mykhailets and Emma Dvorackova, was halted with Memphis leading 4-1.
In singles play, Memphis quickly closed out the match, winning at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles. The remaining matches were unfinished. Juliette Demunck was leading 6-4, 3-2 at No. 2 singles against her opponent. Mia Mayerova lost the first set 6-3 at No. 5 singles but her match was incomplete when she trailed 2-1. Yontha Tadoum was ahead 6-3, 3-1 at No. 6 singles when that match was also suspended.
Southeast Missouri will next travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to face Western Kentucky on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 4 p.m. Central Time. This will be the Redhawks’ next opportunity to secure a win after Saturday’s loss.
Liberty University’s men’s basketball team is also preparing for a game against Western Kentucky, according to a recent announcement from Liberty Flames Athletics. Jimmy Dale McMurtry, a figure in the Western Kentucky region, was recently featured in the West Kentucky Star.
