A recent crossover comic series between DC Comics and Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog is slated to begin this May, continuing a partnership that began in 2025. The series, titled DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion, will consist of five issues, with the first arriving in English on May 5, 2026, according to announcements made earlier today.
The original DC x Sonic the Hedgehog crossover concluded in 2025 with what was described as a slightly open ending, setting the stage for this continuation. Metal Legion will see the two universes once again connected by mysterious mechanical rings, with a hidden antagonist manipulating events from behind the scenes. The heroes from both worlds will need to collaborate to prevent a catastrophic collision, according to promotional materials.
The upcoming series will feature character crossovers, with several Justice League members taking on new forms. Rouge the Bat will appear as Catwoman, Cream and Cheese will embody Supergirl, and Big the Cat will be reimagined as Aquaman, alongside Krypto.
Ian Flynn, a veteran writer known for his operate on the Sonic the Hedgehog comics, is returning to pen the series. He will be joined by artist Adam Bryce Thomas. Cover art will be provided by Pablo M. Collar, Min Ho Kim, and DC artist Serg Acuña. Preview pages, currently without text, have been released alongside the cover art.
Although a German release date has not yet been confirmed, it is anticipated that Panini Comics, which published the first crossover event, will handle distribution in Germany, as they too publish other DC Comics titles.
