Car Crashes Into Building in Phoenix: 7th Ave & Indian School Rd

A man was seriously injured this morning after driving a vehicle into a tax center building in central Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Police responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. The extent of the man’s injuries has not been released, but authorities confirmed he was transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The crash occurred in a busy commercial area of Phoenix. Indian School Road is a major east-west thoroughfare, and 7th Avenue serves as a key north-south corridor. The area is too near the I-17 freeway.

This incident follows other recent police activity in the vicinity of 7th Street and Indian School Road. On Sunday, February 1, 2026, a man was shot after attempting to intervene in an argument, the Phoenix Police Department reported. On Thursday, February 5, 2026, four DPS troopers were injured in a shooting near Interstate 17 and Indian School Road while serving a high-risk search warrant. The suspect in that shooting, 51-year-old Darrelle Lazane Bell, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer.

The Phoenix Police Department has not yet released details regarding the cause of the crash into the tax center. Investigators are working to determine if impairment or mechanical failure were factors. The department encourages anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
