Paris, France – Lasko des Brousses secured a commanding victory in the Prix Salam at Paris-Vincennes on Friday, marking his fifth career win and establishing a modern personal best time over the 2,700-meter course. The four-year-old trotter, trained by Jocelyn Robert, took the lead in the first turn following a false start by Katchina For Clara, and maintained control throughout the race.
Driven by Eric Raffin, Lasko des Brousses, a son of Quaker Jet and Osaka des Brousses, set a strong pace, successfully countering a challenge from Lyzia des Agets as the race progressed. He extended his lead decisively entering the final stretch, ultimately proving too strong for his competitors. Raffin, who likewise secured another victory on the day, emphasized the horse’s potential. “It’s a super horse,” Raffin stated. “Now, we require to ensure everything continues to progress well. Today, he was fitted with front plates, which proved beneficial, giving him added comfort. He requires consistent guidance throughout the race, but he is exceptionally capable. He moves forward with determination.”
Lakana de Fellière finished second, making a strong late run to secure the place, followed closely by Kiki And Co. Lara du Lerre initially took the lead during the descent but was overtaken by Lasko des Brousses. Lotus Zen also demonstrated a strong finish, briefly appearing to challenge for a placing mid-stretch. Luigi D’Isigny, after settling into the pack early on, made a solid advance in the final stages, securing fourth place ahead of Lucas.
Lasko des Brousses previously competed in and won the Prix de Dozulé (Gr. III) on February 1, 2025, also at Vincennes, with Eric Raffin as the jockey and Sandrine Robert as the owner. The Prix de Dozulé was a European mounted race for four-year-olds over 2,700 meters.
On October 3, 2025, Lasko des Brousses is scheduled to compete against older horses in the Prix Lilius at Paris-Vincennes, facing strong competition including Kentucky Idéal.
