After three decades with Boston 25 News, Kevin Lemanowicz is stepping down from his role as chief meteorologist, with his last broadcast scheduled for February 27, 2026. The announcement, made public on February 18, 2026, marks the departure of a prominent figure in Boston-area television news.
Lemanowicz joined the station when it launched in 1996 and has been the sole chief meteorologist throughout its history. He cited a desire to explore novel opportunities as the reason for his departure. “It has been the privilege of a lifetime to serve this community,” Lemanowicz said in a statement. “Thank you for welcoming me into your homes each night. Having been the only Chief at the station, I am proud of what we have built here and know it will continue to be successful because I am leaving behind the best weather team in Boston.”
Throughout his tenure, Lemanowicz provided weather coverage for significant New England weather events, including the 2011 tornadoes, the severe snowstorms of 2015, and flooding in Leominster. His forecasts have been consistently recognized as the most accurate in the Boston market, according to Scott Isaacs, News Director at Boston 25.
Todd Brown, Vice President and General Manager of Boston 25, acknowledged Lemanowicz’s long-term commitment to the station and the region. “Kevin’s commitment to excellence and to the people of New England has defined our weather coverage for decades. We thank him for all he has done here at Boston 25,” Brown stated.
Beyond his on-air duties, Lemanowicz actively participated in community outreach, including school visits and charitable events. Isaacs emphasized the rarity of a 30-year commitment to a single newsroom, praising Lemanowicz’s professionalism, passion, and dedication to viewers. “We will miss Kevin’s experience and wisdom when it comes to local weather,” Isaacs said.
