A woman who went missing in the Flaktveit area of Bergen, Norway, has been found safe, police reported on Thursday morning. The woman was last seen at her home on Monday evening, prompting a search involving police, the Red Cross and other aid organizations.
The search, which spanned two days, concluded when the woman contacted individuals in northern Bergen, who then alerted authorities. “She is cold and is being attended to by ambulance personnel,” said Ingrid Teigland Tepstad, operations leader for the police, in a statement.
The terrain in the Flaktveit area is known to be challenging, potentially complicating the search efforts. Ingrid Teigland Tepstad also served as operations leader during a Red Cross rescue operation in Aurlandsdalen in August 2024, where Swedish tourists became ill after consuming mushrooms, according to reporting from Bergens Tidende. In a separate incident in March 2024, Tepstad oversaw a rescue operation in Årdal after a skier traveling between Skogadalsbu and Fondsbu tourist cabins became stranded and broke a ski, as reported by NRK.
The Red Cross Hjelpekorps assisted in the Flaktveit search with personnel and drone support. A separate search operation, also led by police and involving the Red Cross, Norske Redningshunder, Norsk Folkehjelp, and other organizations, concluded on Wednesday with the discovery of a deceased individual in Stad, according to MSN. The circumstances surrounding that incident remain under investigation.
