WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Houston Astros pitcher Roddery Muñoz delivered during workouts for pitchers and catchers at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches on Thursday, February 12, 2026, as the team began spring training preparations.
Muñoz, who turned 25 in April, joined the Astros organization in December 2025 after being selected in the Rule 5 Draft. Prior to the draft, he had spent parts of the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, respectively. He debuted with the Marlins on April 20, 2024.
The Rule 5 Draft allows teams without a full 40-man roster to select players left unprotected by other organizations. Players selected in the Rule 5 Draft must remain on the selecting team’s major league roster for the entirety of the following season or be offered back to their original club.
Through the end of the 2025 season, Muñoz has a 2-7 win-loss record and a 6.73 earned run average, with 84 strikeouts across his major league appearances. He originally signed with the Atlanta Braves as an international free agent in June 2018 and spent several seasons in their minor league system, reaching the Double-A and Triple-A levels before being added to the Braves’ 40-man roster in November 2022.
Muñoz is a right-handed pitcher, standing 6-2 and weighing 210 pounds. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is currently pre-arb eligible, meaning his contract status is determined before he reaches arbitration eligibility.
