Transformers Actor Arrested for Assault

Shia LaBeouf was arrested in Latest Orleans early Tuesday morning following allegations of assault, the New Orleans Police Department confirmed. The 39-year-old actor, known for his roles in films including “Transformers” and “Megalopolis,” was taken into custody in the French Quarter after officers responded to reports of a disturbance on Royal Street.

According to police statements, officers arrived at a business in the 1400 block of Royal Street at approximately 12:45 a.m. To investigate a reported simple battery. Investigators determined that LaBeouf had allegedly assaulted two men. Initial reports indicate that LaBeouf was asked to leave the establishment by staff due to disruptive behavior. Once outside, he allegedly struck one of the victims with closed fists multiple times.

The incident did not end with the initial assault. Police reported that LaBeouf reportedly returned and continued to act aggressively, prompting multiple individuals to attempt to restrain him. He allegedly struck the same victim again, punching him in the upper body, and also assaulted a second person by punching them in the nose. LaBeouf was subsequently restrained by those present until police arrived.

Following his arrest, LaBeouf was transported to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries before being formally charged with two counts of simple battery. The arrest occurred during Lundi Gras celebrations, the precursor to Mardi Gras, in New Orleans.

This is not LaBeouf’s first encounter with legal issues. He was previously involved in a domestic violence lawsuit filed by singer FKA twigs in 2020, where she alleged physical and emotional abuse. LaBeouf has denied those allegations. The actor also has a history of prior arrests and legal troubles, according to reports.

A representative for LaBeouf has not yet issued a public statement regarding the latest arrest. The New Orleans Police Department has not released further details regarding the identities of the victims or the extent of their injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.
