The move brings a proven scoring threat to Westchester as it navigates the remainder of the G League season and offers Warren another opportunity to demonstrate his readiness for a return to the NBA.
Warren, 32, averaged 23.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 21 games with Westchester last season, shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from three-point range. His performance underscored the offensive capabilities that once established him as a reliable NBA starter.
The forward’s NBA career trajectory was significantly impacted by a navicular stress fracture in his left foot, sustained in December 2020, requiring multiple surgeries and a nearly two-year absence from the court. Prior to the injury, Warren was emerging as a key offensive player for the Indiana Pacers, averaging 19.8 points per game during the 2019-20 season.
Since then, Warren has moved between several NBA organizations, including the Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and Minnesota Timberwolves, seeking to regain his previous form. His most recent NBA action came on April 9, 2024, with the Timberwolves, where he played just over one minute against the Washington Wizards.
Warren’s return to the G League aligns with a growing trend of established NBA players utilizing the league to maintain game readiness and visibility. Victor Oladipo currently plays for the Wisconsin Herd, and Isaiah Thomas has appeared for the Salt Lake City Stars, demonstrating a shift towards the G League as a viable pathway for veterans.
