Charleston Southern University’s volleyball program has added Julia Abramo Rocha as an Assistant Coach, the university announced this week. Rocha joins the Buccaneers following a successful graduate assistant coaching role at the University of Charleston in West Virginia.

During the 2025 season, Rocha assisted the University of Charleston staff in achieving a 23-23 overall record and an 11-4 mark within the Mountain East Conference, culminating in a conference championship title. She recently completed her Master of Business Administration in Business Analytics at the University of Charleston, according to university materials.

Prior to her coaching career, Rocha was a student-athlete, playing the setter position at both the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and Otero College. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from UTRGV and served as a representative on the institution’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

In a separate announcement, Charleston Southern too welcomed Lena Pucnik as a Graduate Assistant Coach this spring. Pucnik, an outside hitter, concluded her five-year collegiate career at Life University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she amassed 1,493 kills, 1,414 digs, 157 service aces, and 152 total blocks.

Originally hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Rocha’s previous coaching experience also includes work with multiple volleyball clubs, currently working with Charleston Univ. (USA), according to Volleybox.net.
