Puerto Rico: Abandoned Building Revived – 60 Jobs & Bakery Created
A former industrial building in Camuy, Puerto Rico, owned by the Compañía de Fomento Industrial (PRIDCO), is now operating as a bakery producing 2,500 pounds of bread daily, and has created 60 direct jobs, according to a report published February 16, 2026.
The facility, previously unused, has been repurposed by a Puerto Rican entrepreneur who had established businesses in Central Florida following his displacement after Hurricane Maria. The entrepreneur’s return to Puerto Rico and investment in Camuy represents a revitalization effort for the region.
PRIDCO, established to foster industrial development in Puerto Rico, offers incentives and support for businesses looking to invest in the territory. The agency lists its contact information as 787-758-4747, extensions 3170, 3155, or 3158, and [email protected] for inquiries about available spaces. PRIDCO’s headquarters are located at 355 Avenida F.D. Roosevelt in San Juan.
In September 2025, PRIDCO announced the launch of an internship program in collaboration with the Polytechnic University to develop talent for industrial management. The agency also advertised openings for a Contract Administration Executive and a Free Zone Administrator in August 2025.
PRIDCO describes Puerto Rico as an ideal investment destination, citing economic innovations, incentive programs, a bilingual workforce, and a strategic global position. The agency’s website states its commitment to accessibility and compliance with Law 229 of 2003.
